Golden Spike
When the Central Pacific
Railroad met and connected to the Union Pacific Railroad at Promontory,
Utah, it was the beginning of the end for the American frontier; the end of
the beginning for national unity. On May 10, every year, there is a
reenactment of the driving of the golden spike held at Promontory Utah.
