Strategic Plan and Annual Report

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT MOVING BOX ELDER COUNTY INTO THE FUTURE.

The economy of Box Elder County as a whole depends significantly on the success of our many communities. A strong local economy is fundamental to providing the stability needed by Box Elder County to create the jobs for our residents Our mission statement provides a clear directive in developing our strategies.

Box Elder County Community Development Mission: To protect, deversify, and expand the County economy while preserving and enhancing the quality of life.

In working to achieve the vision of providing the healthy environment for business and growth, the department has changed significantly over the past year. The County Commission consolodated County Planning and Development services with the Office of Economic Development. The product is the Department of Community Development. This consolidation brings together the key development functions to provide a service oriented office that will produce a more focused approach to both economic development and planning.

FOCUSING COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS

The creation of a strong, deversified local economy requires the County to direct our limited resources to very focused objectives. There are three major areas of concentration for the Community Development Department: Producing Balanced Growth, Coordinating Planning Efforts and Building Public/Private Partnerships. These areas become the policy framework that guides the work program for the department. Along with each of the three areas are specific strategies and recommendations for action.
